Shari Barton, a PhD in public administration, began her real estate career in 1985. She has been a multi-million dollar producer every year and she is a Life Member of the Washington, DC Association of Realtors (WDCAR) Achievement Awards. She is very active in the community – having served three terms as President of the Forest Hills Citizens Association and is one of only three residents to have been honored with life membership. She also has served as Chair of the District of Columbia Board of Elections and Ethics, President of the Mount Holyoke Club, Director of the Board of Rehabilitation (an United Way agency) and Chair of the Connecticut Avenue Beautification Committee. Additionally, she served seven years on the Women’s Leadership Committee of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Greater Capital Area. In recognition of her outstanding community service, Shari Barton was awarded the 1991 Isen Award for Public Service by WDCAR.
She is currently serving her second term as District of Columbia Real Estate Commissioner--appointed by Mayor Fenty and confirmed by the City Council. The Board of Real Estate is the governing body for the DC real estate community.
Her friends and professional contacts span the DC-metropolitan area, and she has marketed and sold properties in Maryland, Virginia and all DC quadrants. She is also a licensed Broker in South Carolina, where she has investment property on Hilton Head Island .
