Mary Ellen, who retired from the Chief of Staff position at the Federal Aviation Administration in 2004, is a REALTOR® and an Executive Assistant for top producing real estate agent Tom Davidson. Her interest in real estate began in 2007 when Tom Davidson -- then a close associate who recognized Mary Ellen's exceptional organizational, communications, coordination, and collaboration skills -- encouraged her to get her real estate license and become a member of his real estate team as his assistant.
After graduating from high school in 1963, Mary Ellen attended Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, before returning home to Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1968, she joined the United States Navy and served as an air traffic controller for 3 years. Her military education and experience opened the door to a federal career. Mary Ellen joined the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in 1971 as an Air Traffic Control Specialist. Her career spanned the next 34 years, during which she served as an air traffic controller, staff specialist, supervisor, manager, FAA liaison to the Defense Base Closure Commission, special assistant, and finally as Chief of Staff to the Director of Air Traffic for the United States. Her areas of skill were in the organizational, communication, collaboration, and coordination areas required in performing her job while assisting others to perform their duties.
After retirement, Mary Ellen worked for a government contractor for 3 years in the air traffic control field. She decided to stay in the Washington Metro area because she loved the area and is fascinated with the historic aspects of Washington, DC, and Virginia. In 2007, she decided to look into other lines of work and the opportunity came along in the area of real estate.
