Best Address Media is looking for a full-time, entry-level independent contractor to join as our Researcher and Writer, digging up the history behind fascinating buildings, neighborhoods, and people, and turning it into scripts for social media and live walking tours. If you are the type of person who opens one tab to check a fact and closes the laptop three hours later having fallen down a rabbit hole, that instinct is not a distraction here, it is the job.
You will work directly with Joe Himali, a Washington, DC based social media personality and real estate broker with over 589,000 followers across his platforms. Joe covers history, architecture, and travel through Best Address Media and leads Best Address Walking Tours around DC.
The role comes with real behind the scenes access in DC: private tours of spaces not open to the public, and the chance to meet the historians, architects, designers, and historic preservationists who actually shaped the city.
What you will do: research and write scripts covering places and stories from across the United States and around the world, chase leads through archives and primary sources wherever they go, and help develop content for Best Address Walking Tours, including private tours of buildings closed to the public. The real craft of this job is connecting a seemingly obscure fact in one city to a person, place, or event an ocean and a century away, then weaving those threads into one story that actually holds together.
Who we are looking for: a strong writer with wide-ranging curiosity across history, architecture, and travel. You should be comfortable with independent research and juggling multiple projects on deadline. Remote work is possible, but a candidate based in or near Washington, DC is strongly preferred, since the in-person research and tours described above happen there.
This is entry-level, so no prior professional experience is required. A background in history, journalism, English, or a related field is a plus, but genuine curiosity and strong writing samples matter more than a degree.
This is an independent contractor position, with full-time hours, compensation will be based on experience.
